Friendships: good and bad.
So I've been wanting to do this post for awhile, and then I read one of my friends blog posts about her friendships and it kind of inspired me to write this now!
We have to be careful who we pick as friends.
1 Corinthians 15:33, Do not be misled: "bad company corrupts good character."
my mom always reminds me of this, she used to say "you are who you hang out with." I think that's why I'm careful about choosing friends. I think we should all be. Not so careful that we never give anyone a chance though! Our friends define us. Who we are and what we're like. It's important to choose your friends wisely.
Proverbs 13:20 Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.
Proverbs 18:24, One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
Proverbs 22:24-25
Do not make friends with a hot-tempered person, do not associate with one easily angered, or you may learn their ways and get yourself ensnared.
But friends can also be really great! They're awesome and amazing if you are blessed with true, real friends.
Psalm 27:13, I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living!
That verse is what most inspired me to write this post.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10.
Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: if either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls down and has no one to help them up.
Job 2:11 when Job's three friends, Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophan the Naamathite, heard about all the troubles that had come upon him, they set out from their homes and met together by agreement to go and sympathize with him and comfort him.
That's friends for ya!
2 Kings 2:2
Elijah said to Elisha, "Stay here, the Lord has sent me to Bethal." but Elisha said "As surely as the Lord lives and as you live, I will not leave you." so they went down to Bethal.
Elisha was promising to never leave Elijah as long as the Lord and they lived.
Ya know who else promised to never leave us? Jesus.
Psalm 27:10.
For my father and mother have forsaken me but the Lord will take me. In.
Psalm 37:24.
Though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the Lord upholds his hand.
Jesus is the Ultimate best friend! Because he will NEVER leave you. He'll NEVER forsake you. He'll NEVER lie to you. And he'll ALWAYS LOVE YOU.
Jesus wants YOU to accept him as your Lord and Savior. He loves you!!! He died for you because He loves you! He died for YOU so YOU could be saved and have an everlasting life in heaven! He loves you!
The Lord be with your spirit. Grace be with you. 2 Timothy 4:22
